Wife On A Budget: Jewelry Obsessions

Those who know me well know that I do not wear extravagant jewelry.  I tend to sway to the simple side, mostly sticking with my engagement ring, wedding band and beautiful pearl studs that Mr. R gave me for our wedding.  If I am feeling fancy yet conservative I add the strand of pearls that Mr. R generously gave me to match my earrings.  I have been very vocal about a diamond and sapphire band to wear with my rings (anniversary coming up Mr. R!).

This being said, I DO enjoy the occasional statement necklace or bracelet and feel it can completely transform a plain ol' dress into a snazzy get-up.  I however REFUSE to spend a fortune on these baubles.  Call me a cheapskate but if its going to go out of style in 6 months anyways, why spend so much?!

Monogrammed Mondays: Wellies

My heart goes out to the families all over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast dealing with clean up and flooding from Hurricane Irene.  Charleston was greatly spared and Mr. R and I are thinking of those who were less fortuneate.  My family in Eastern North Carolina and Virginia faired well, much better than anticipated.  We are thinking of my cousin Stuart and his sweet wife Harriett and their two dogs in Duck, NC and the flooding they are dealing with.

In the spirit of rain, today's featured monogram is a pair of adorable wellies.  I can't wait to snatch up a pair for myself or maybe a cute gift for my sister or our nieces.

Just One of Those Days

In case you have not heard there is a little storm off the coast named Irene.  Charleston at this point seems to be on the much luckier side than our friends to the north.  Right now its raining and we do have a fair amount of wind causing some power outages and trees down.  I know I am thinking of my OBX and VA cousins and wish them only the best (as well as everyone else in already declared state's of emergency).

This weather makes me sleepy and it does not help that I was up half the night hugging the toilet.  Note to self and all others, stay away from Hardees/Red Burrito.  However, I am starting to wonder if its a little bug since my tummy is still not A-ok after some of Campbell's best and some saltines.

What do I want right now more than anything?  My bed, with a big down comforter and a black puppy dog and orange kitty cat snuggled up with me.  Mr. R would be a nice addition too.  Wouldn't some of these swoon worthy beds be a welcomed treat this afternoon?

Happy Birthday Mr. R!

Today is my sweet hubby's 31st birthday.  I LOVE that he will always be older than me and hit the age milestones first!  Makes it a little easier to grow old together.  Today is dedicated to the fabulous Christopher Howard Reynolds.  I actually got my butt out of bed this morning at 6am and made him breakfast before work.  THATS love:).  He dined on blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese and turkey bacon.  It was nice to watch him open his cards this morning and have a little bit of time to celebrate.  I will be in class tonight (boo) so our good friends RAM and TWP are going to take Mr. R out on the town to the Riverdogs Game.
Mr. R and I met at Kiawah, working.  Yup, my first day on the job...office romance!  He's pretty fabulous if I do say so, so I am happy to take a day (or two or three) to celebrate the birth of the love of my life.  Here are some highlights on why Mr. R makes my heart go a-flutter!

  • He really does love my cat and puts up with my crazy cat lady tendencies.  They have been caught snoozing together "a time or two."  He also loves our dog Tucker with all his heart.

  • Mr. R used to be a "hippie."  Now, he is still quite avid Widespread Panic fan and Phish fan but does not quite have the same look he used to sport.  Night and Day.

vs.

  • His four nieces and family mean the world to him.  He has made every effort possible to be at the births and life's special moments for each niece.  Nothing comes before family and his mother is his hero.  I know he is going to be a FABULOUS father to our children.

  • He is one of the hardest workers I know and has one of the happiest morals of anyone I know.  He always has a smile on his face and has never met a stranger.  You know he's excited about something when he stands on his toes to talk:).

  • He knows me inside and out and still loves me.  He puts up with my craziness, my emotions and OCDness and I know loves me no matter what.  He is my best friend.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I LOVE YOU!

Sights & Sounds of Tour de Charleston

What a wonderful weekend!  Mr. R and I had such a fun time with the McPhersons and showing them around Charleston.  Here's a run down of the weekend.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Dr. AMM and I (and Mr. R, begrudgingly) shed a couple tears while drinking some red wine, eating bad food and watching "Something Borrowed."  I have read the books so was not surprised by the ending, but doesn't John Krasinski just steal the friggin show?  Rumor has it that Emily Giffin's next book, Something Blue, is in works for the big screen too!  Can't wait.

SATURDAY
First we went to the Marion Square Farmers Market and had an amazing time.  I forget how wonderful it is.
I had yummy cheese grits and the McPherson's sampled the world famous crepes.
We bought fresh flowers, handmade soaps for Dr. AMM's "Greek" bathroom, and saw interesting things like this...and they call ME the crazy cat lady...

Then we took a stroll over to East of the Cooper to the old Pitt Street Bridge for a beautiful view of the city!  I forget how gorgeous it is sometimes...

THEN we went to Trader Joes.  I can't beleive how fabulously cheap it is!  We stocked up, obviously Mr. M was very happy about the $$.

Saturday night we hit up The Fat Hen with a group of 9.  It was a great time and great food!  Mr. R got a burger with pimento cheese and carmelized onions, Dr. AMM got the salmon bernaise and both Mr. M and I got the crab cakes.  And we polished off two bottles of red wine...DELISH!!!!

SUNDAY
Unfortuneatly the weather did now allow for paddle boarding or "SUP"ing as we are now calling it (Stand Up Paddleboarding).  Apparently thats the cool way to say it.  The wind was too strong so we ended up just going to Station 30 a Sullivans.  We were enjoying ourselves having a nice little time with the McPhersons and all of a sudden EVERY SINGLE CHI-O from CofC was at our beach.  Guess that was their bid day party and we felt like we were in the middle of Spring Break Cancun 2k11.  Needless to say both Mr. R and Mr. M were not complaining...
HOPE YOU HAD A GRAND WEEKEND TOO, WE CERTAINLY NEED TO KEEP AN EYE THE ONE COMING UP!
