Charleston Fashion Week: Emerging Designers

Tonight marks the beginning of one of the most highly anticipated weeks in Charleston: Fashion Week 2012.  Charleston has become not only known for its beauty, history, friendly people, and cuisine but now, FASHION.  Charleston Fashion Week started in 2007 and has grown into a nationally know event.  Each year local retailers, bridal boutiques and incredibly talented upcoming designers have the chance for models to strut their stuff and show off the latest and greatest in Southern couture.

The Emerging Designer competition has become a HUGE success and has featured everything from Ready To Wear, Bridal, to Children's Fashion.  I was lucky enough to graduate college and design along side a talented designer, Michael Wiernicki, who won the People's Choice Award in 2011.  He was selected as a 'Featured Designer' for this year's runway.

Label: Mystery School
Experience: Received his BFA in costume design from the College of Charleston; worked as a costume shop manager in CofC’s theater department; earned a spot in the CFW 2011 Emerging Designer Competition: East semifinals

Video below is of Michael's experience and vision, from Michael's Kickstarter page which he was able to raise over $4,000 to enable him to show is work in Fashion Week 2012.

Tisdale + Verona has been selected for the Emerging Designer Competition for 2012.  I worked with Gil Tisdale and Dominique Verona while I was at GDC Home.  They are incredibly talented and I can't wait to see the pictures from TONIGHT'S runway show.  Best of luck!!!
