Thoughts

  • Coastal Living Magazine announced today that our very own Kiawah Island (i.e. where Mr. R and I met, worked, got engaged, vacationed and LOVE) was named "Happiest Seaside Town in America."  You can read the article HERE.  No wonder my husband always has a smile on his face...I thought it was just because he is married to me!

  • Speaking of KI, we are excited to go kayaking this weekend on the rivahhh.  Hopefully the dolphins will be out to play.

  • I ordered this necklace off of Etsy this week.  Identical to the infamous JCREW Bubble Necklace for 1/3 of the price!

  • Did anyone watch Scandal last night?  Its my new obsession!!!  I am on pins and needles for next week's episode!  Feeling somewhat similar about the finale of Grey's but read today on TVLine.com that all the original cast has resigned a 2-year deal.  WHEW.

  • My neighbor's opened her front door to her cat, Oscar, snuggled up with this little guy.  They were hoping to keep him but unfortunately he did not make it through the night last night.  Poor little thing.

  • Update on baby Rowan:  She is getting ready to move out of the PICU!!  She is making little steps towards recovery and is officially off her breathing tube and oxygen.  The is clasping her hands and making small movements.  Keep praying for even more good news!!

6 Days ~ My Top 5 Christmas Movies

Mr. R and I are TOTALLY in the Christmas spirit now!  We just got back from a wonderful weekend in Spartanburg with *MOST* of the Reynolds/Bowdish/Strout family (seriously missed the rest, you know who you are!).  We had a Christmas night out with Mr. R's brother and his wife and some friends to the Piedmont Club (I got the filet and crab cake duo, so did Mr.  R) and then to see the Santa Land Diaries at HUBBUB.  If you have not see this wonderful monologue, especially in Spartanburg, its awesome!  Sunday, we celebrated traditional Christmas with Mr. R's family and exchanged gifts.  We love our new convection oven, Big Green Egg Accessories, these lamps for the guest bedroom, and other goodies!!!  Will miss you guys SO much on Christmas Day!

Can you believe there are only 6 days left until the big day?  One of my favorites things to do for Christmas is sit back with some popcorn, a glass of wine and a holiday movie with my loved ones.  I think I could watch these movies over and over...whats your favorite?

DRUMROLL PLEASE.......

5. IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
Duh, who doesn't love this Christmas classic?  I am a little ashamed to say that I did not actually ever see this movie until I was about 22 years old...

4. RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
I am still a little frightened by the Abominable Snow Man but sure do love Burl Ives and the Misfit Toys.

3. THE *NEW* GRINCH
They did such a wonderful job with the remake of this movie.  Jim Carrey really rocks as The Grinch and the music just puts a smile on my face.

2. THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Now I know this is not technically a "Christmasssy" movie but I have been watching this movie with my Chamberlain family since I was born.  It means the epitome of family time and Christmas to me.  "The hills are alive...with the sound of music...lalalalalala"

1.  LOVE ACTUALLY
Yup, its a chick flick but DAMN this is a good movie.  Not only is it my favorite Christmas movie its probably one of my favorite movies of all time.  I can watch it over and over and not get tired of  these fabulous actors and story line.

Dreaming of Emmy Awards Fashion...

I love the Emmy Awards.  Why?  Not only do I get to see all of my favorite TV actors and actresses in one place but OH MAN the fashion is delightful.  Also, they celebrate in the fall and I don't have to wait until official "awards season" in January-March for swoonful Sunday nights.  Mr. R knows the drill.  We start with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet and watch straight through.  I think he is just happy he gets to look at the likes of Sophia Vergara and Mariska Hargitay all night.  What are they going to wear though?  Not so very long ago I was a little costume design major and literally LIVED for the awards shows and the over the top dresses (now I work in Real Estate, go figure?!).  Pulling from the likes of People.com, here are my very own PREDICT A-GOWN choices with my favorite nominees/presenters.

LEA MICHELE
The GLEE actress plays one of my all time favorite characters, probably because she hits so close to home in my high school years.  She and her fellow castmates are nominated for "Outstanding Comedy Series."

JULIE BOWEN
I mean who doesn't love Claire Dunfey?  She is gorg and hilarious!  She is up for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series."

 EVAN RACHEL WOOD
Four Words: BAD ASS RALEIGH CHICA
She is nominated for her work in "Mildred Pierce."  Let's hear it for the hometown lady!  PS, I miss her terribly in True Blood...

 DIANNA AGRON
Quinn Fabre is a devious but beautiful and caring character.  Stunning!!!!
She joins Lea Michele and the cast of "Glee" for their nominations.

KATE WINSLET
Hello Miss Titanic...have loved her since the Rose days.  She is nominated for her starring role in "Mildred Pierce."

GWYNETH PALTROW
One of my favorite "Glee" guest stars...one of Hollywood's most beautiful!!
