Weekend Recap

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that you were either able to see your mommas or atleast have a good phone call!  If you ARE a momma, I hope you were showered with love!

Mr. R and I were supposed to have gone back to Spartanburg for an engagement shower for some good friends K&B (wedding in June, woohoo!) but just couldn't make it work after being there two weeks ago and then leaving again Memorial Day weekend.  We are so sad we missed it AND missed spending Mothers Day with DRB!

Friday night our friends the MacCoys came over and we made homemade pizza and had a rummy tournament.  I lead most of the night and then Mrs. M pulled a fast one and beat me in the end.

Saturday we got up and got the oil changed on my car, went to Lowes for some hydrangeas and new window box flowers and then took a trip out to Kiawah with the MacCoys to go kayaking/fishing.  Against Mr. R's strong suggestion to go elsewhere we thought it would be a great idea to kayak against the incoming tide out to Captain Sam's Inlet, hang out, and then kayak back to Mingo Point against the wind and outgoing tide.  Needless to say my fingers even hurt from the paddling on Sunday.
We also had a little incident on the way back...somehow the fishing lines behind the kayaks got crossed (trolling in kayaks, I mean really...), one of the lines snapped and the other whip-lashed back and the hook caught my shoulder and cheek.  No, thank fully I did not look like a fish with a hook in my mouth but it scared the crap out of me!!!  Now two days, and some Neosporin later, my cheek is looking a whole lot better.

Sunday was pretty crappy weather wise but Mr. R and I were up early.  He and the boys (4 legged) gave me the beautiful hydrangeas for the yard and the flowers for the window boxes.  Mr. R was nice enough to plant them for me.  We spent some time wandering around Lowes dreaming of home projects, relaxing on the couch and then I made Sunday dinner--Oven Fried Chicken, Smashed Potatoes & Green Bean Casserole...YUMMMM

2 new hydrangeas & don't mind Rals doing his yoga in the background

updated window boxes: petunias, calibrachoa & potato vine

my gardenias have finally started blooming

Dreaming of Emmy Awards Fashion...

I love the Emmy Awards.  Why?  Not only do I get to see all of my favorite TV actors and actresses in one place but OH MAN the fashion is delightful.  Also, they celebrate in the fall and I don't have to wait until official "awards season" in January-March for swoonful Sunday nights.  Mr. R knows the drill.  We start with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet and watch straight through.  I think he is just happy he gets to look at the likes of Sophia Vergara and Mariska Hargitay all night.  What are they going to wear though?  Not so very long ago I was a little costume design major and literally LIVED for the awards shows and the over the top dresses (now I work in Real Estate, go figure?!).  Pulling from the likes of People.com, here are my very own PREDICT A-GOWN choices with my favorite nominees/presenters.

LEA MICHELE
The GLEE actress plays one of my all time favorite characters, probably because she hits so close to home in my high school years.  She and her fellow castmates are nominated for "Outstanding Comedy Series."

JULIE BOWEN
I mean who doesn't love Claire Dunfey?  She is gorg and hilarious!  She is up for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series."

 EVAN RACHEL WOOD
Four Words: BAD ASS RALEIGH CHICA
She is nominated for her work in "Mildred Pierce."  Let's hear it for the hometown lady!  PS, I miss her terribly in True Blood...

 DIANNA AGRON
Quinn Fabre is a devious but beautiful and caring character.  Stunning!!!!
She joins Lea Michele and the cast of "Glee" for their nominations.

KATE WINSLET
Hello Miss Titanic...have loved her since the Rose days.  She is nominated for her starring role in "Mildred Pierce."

GWYNETH PALTROW
One of my favorite "Glee" guest stars...one of Hollywood's most beautiful!!

What I Love About Sunday

I know most people have a strong dislike for Sundays because they mean the end of a weekend.  I however have nothing but love for this last (or first!) day of the week.

Sunday means...

Boogetty, Boogetty, Let's Goo Racin' Boys!
My inner redneck can come out to play with a Sunday afternoon Nascar race.  Today the guys are in Pocono and I find the race is the perfect background for folding laundry or a nice hummmm to take a nap.  My drivers of choice?  Jeff Burton or good ol' Dale Jr.

LOTS of Cat (& Doggy!) Naps
I don't think these two do much of anything other than eat and sleep.  Mr. R and I think they need to start carrying their own weight around here but aren't our boys so darn cute?!
First the window sill.
Then the landing...

Finally the couch...rough life.

And Mr. Tucker just blocks the hallway all day.

HBOlicious
Sunday night brings True Blood and Entourage to the TV...i.e. best night of TV all week!  Whether you are Team Eric or Team Bill (or Team Alcide!) there is enough sex appeal for everyone.

Entourage, well, I'm very sad its the last season but its had its day.  PS, how much of a biatch is Mrs. Ari?
