Favorite Things: My Summer Go-To's

Luckily in Charleston we do not get TOO harsh of a winter so I never really have to pack my summer goodies away.  However, there comes that time when you to put some color on your toe nails, rid of the pasty white skin and enjoy sweet, sweet summertime in the Lowcountry!  What are your favorite summer goodies?

Thoughts

• Coastal Living Magazine announced today that our very own Kiawah Island (i.e. where Mr. R and I met, worked, got engaged, vacationed and LOVE) was named "Happiest Seaside Town in America."  You can read the article HERE.  No wonder my husband always has a smile on his face...I thought it was just because he is married to me!

• Speaking of KI, we are excited to go kayaking this weekend on the rivahhh.  Hopefully the dolphins will be out to play.  

• I ordered this necklace off of Etsy this week.  Identical to the infamous JCREW Bubble Necklace for 1/3 of the price!

• Did anyone watch Scandal last night?  Its my new obsession!!!  I am on pins and needles for next week's episode!  Feeling somewhat similar about the finale of Grey's but read today on TVLine.com that all the original cast has resigned a 2-year deal.  WHEW.

• My neighbor's opened her front door to her cat, Oscar, snuggled up with this little guy.  They were hoping to keep him but unfortunately he did not make it through the night last night.  Poor little thing.

  

• Update on baby Rowan:  She is getting ready to move out of the PICU!!  She is making little steps towards recovery and is officially off her breathing tube and oxygen.  The is clasping her hands and making small movements.  Keep praying for even more good news!!

Thoughts

• I was at Harris Teeter earlier this week and was so excited to score this bouquet of peonies & hydrangeas.  I have them on my desk and they just make me smile!  We had very similar colored peonies on our wedding day.  

• I  guess I got my answer from last week's post and Jessica Simpson delivered her almost 10lb baby!  I actually really like the name, Maxwell Drew.  Per People.com, its a combo of her husband's middle name and her mom's maiden name.  Props to her for keeping it in the family and not choosing a fruit or country for her namesake.

• It was announced this week that the 2nd Annual Southern Ground Music & Food Festival with Zac Brown Band will be October 20-21 on Daniel Island.  Mr. R and I did not go this past year but are hoping to go this year.  We LOVE Zac Brown heard this was a blast last year.  Tickets go on sale tomorrow, May 5.

•  I am thinking of ordering this dress from JCrew Factory for a wedding in June, thoughts?

• Mother's Day is next weekend.  Got any great gift ideas for making mom feel special to share??

• I was lucky enough to visit my co-worker A and her husband C (from my post yesterday) at MUSC Children's Hospital last night.  I was even able to have a few moments with sweet Rowan.  Unfortunately Rowan had a seizure last night and then another MRI this morning showing the swelling in her brain as increased.  A&C have set up a Caringbridge website (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/rowanrice )for their beautiful girl.  I am in awe at the strength A&C have been able to muster and know that God is helping them stay strong.  A is especially wondering if there is anyone out there who has gone through something similar.  They need all the thoughts, prayers and love they can get right now.  Thank you to those of you who are lifting them up in thought and word.

A Pinch Of Green

Happy Friday!  So excited for a low key weekend.  Tonight we are hitting up a bar to see our friends D 'n R play and then plan on spending the rest of the weekend attacking our disaster of a house.  May throw in a little sun tanning:)  No big plans for St. Patricks Day tomorrow but will be sure to throw a little green (AND drink some beer) in my life to avoid a pinch!  What are you doing and how will you incorporate the infamous color?  Have a great weekend!

There is something about the color EMERALD GREEN that I am loving in fashion right now.  I'm dying for a fabulous dress or a pair of drop earring to just "make" an outfit.

Target.com has recently launched a new, cost concious bridesmaid line.  Available online only and in multiple colors, they put their own spin on popular runway styles for 1/4 the price!  However with Target's HORRENDOUS new website it might take you 4 hours to order one dress...price you pay for a deal!

5 Things: Friday Addition

Its finally Friday and I for one could not be happier.  Its been a crazy, crazy week!

5. JCrew has finally opened an outlet here in Chucktown.  Since it is TAX FREE weekend here in SC, I am thinking this may be the perfect opportunity to check out the new digs.  I am hoping to see the likes of these items that might make it home to my closet.

 

4. My Momma D (mother in law) sent me this little tidbit this morning and it put a big smile on my face.  Feel free to send to your favorites and give them something to smile about:).

3.  Momma & Daddy Evans get back from 10 days in Maine today and I cannot wait to see their pictures.  Mr. R and I are hoping to go for a week next summer with them.  Here is one my Mom took from an inn in Lubec after a rain shower.  The lighthouse is actually Canada!

2.  I am officially finished with 8 hours of real estate class.  Only 52 more to go before a license!

1.  I am SO happy to have one of my oldest and best friends living with Mr. R and I for the month of August.  She is a brilliant doctor and doing a month long rotation at MUSC for radiology.  It’s a blessing to have friends like AMM who know you like the back of their hand and STILL love you!  Special thanks to her husband Mr. M for letting us borrow her for the monthJ.  Here we are during one of our college trips to the West Coast to see her sister at USC--fight on Trojans!
