Weekend Recap

Yeah...its Tuesday, I'm a little behind.  We had an EXTREMELY busy weekend and Monday.

Friday night Mr. R's brother and sister in law and our two nieces K & E came to spend the night.  We cooked out on the Egg in between thunderstorms.  I made THESE zucchini fries.  They were good but needed a little more Parmesan and maybe some more Italian seasoning.

I was SO excited when I got a call from our neighbor around 7pm to ask us to go let their dog out...because their beautiful twin girls were born!!  Meet sweet A & B!  CONGRATS to the S family!

Saturday morning Mr. R got up bright and early to participate in the Palmetto Society's 1st Annual Redfish Tournament.  I went with my brother & sister-in-law and nieces down to the Farmers Market, it was beautiful Saturday morning.  With Spoleto happening, there was even more to see and do.

Saturday night we celebrated our good friend L's 29th birthday!  It was so fun to catch up with friends and enjoy a night out on their dock.  **I was going to make the avocado, corn & tomato salad but ran out of time.  Instead I made my salsa/cream cheese specialty.  Easiest thing in the world and addicting!

happy happy birthday!!!

Sunday we went out to Kiawah to hang out some more with Mr. R's brother and family.  We went to the beach in the morning and then the boys went to play golf and the girls went to the pool and a visit to the Kiawah Nature Center.  I got WAY too much sun.

Our niece K just got back from a week at camp and we made Camp Greystone nachos on Sunday night!  What a fun idea for kids or a Mexican themed dinner!  Take individual bags of fritos, open them, dump beef, cheese, salsa, and whichever other toppings you may want, shake it up and serve!!

Monday was a BIG day for birthdays.  It was my sister in law J's bday, my coworkers, our friend L from Saturday night AND my one of my bff's bdays.  We went to Pearlz in Avondale last night to celebrate L's big 29!!  We have been best friends since college and I absolutely LOVE spending time with she and her hubby J.  I wish her the best year ever!
surprise TCBY cake, her fave!

L&J, love them

Last but not least a HUGE shout out to our friends the Oakleys who will be welcoming their set of TWINS tomorrow morning!!  Cannot wait for those beautiful babies to be here and praying its a easy delivery for their momma J!

Hump Day Inspiration: 27...or 28??

I died when I read this...laughing that is.  Working downtown I am constantly reminded by the pretty young CofC things that I am definitely NOT in college anymore!  I'm also pretty sure this is legit for about age 27-30ish!

Funny Birthday Ecard: Welcome to 27: Where every other weekend is a wedding, you feel borderline inappropriate shopping in Forever 21, and two drinks equal a hangover.

Weekend Recap

I hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful weekend!  I saw lots of pics on Facebook of people on the boat and at the beach.  I feel like it was the first REAL beach/boat weekend of the season!

Friday night Mr. R and I went to see some friend's band, D n' R play in West Ashley.  I left early but Mr. R stayed with the 'D' of DnR and had a little TOO much fun.

Saturday morning we got up and drove to Spartanburg to visit our family and take Mr. R's mom back.  Tucker enjoyed the ride with his Grammie.

Saturday afternoon we got ready for a nice family dinner for our oldest niece, KCR, 7th birthday.  We took a little trip to Irwin Ace in Sparkle City for our favorite cooking seasoning, Yep Shake.  This stuff is AMAZING.  Also while we were at Irwin Ace, Mr. R treated me to this cute clutch.  I can't wait to use it!

My brother in law made some killer ribs on the Big Green Egg and we celebrated KCR's bday with yummy oreo cake!

Sunday the girls did a little flowerpot painting (I think E did more on herself than the flower pot) and then cooked out and had MORE cake for K's bday, this time ice cream cake from Bruesters (a must have in Sburg)!  We planted some seeds that K got and then headed back to Chas.

Thoughts

  • ITS FRIDAY!!!  Thank you Lord!
  • Has anyone seen these videos of Luke Bryan doing his 'move'?  They are too funny and he is too cute!   I saw them over at DAY OLD NEWS and just had to share. He, as well as load of other country artists (including my girl Miranda), are playing this weekend, at a weekend long festival in northern California called STAGECOACH.  I so wish I was going...check out the line up, its phenom!

  • Mr. R is beyond thrilled because he found out today that he got tickets to PHISH for BOTH Atlanta and Charlotte.  They are two nights in a row AND on Mr. R's 32rd birthday weekend.  Mr. R has told me "all he wants for his birthday is for me to go to the Charlotte show" so looks like I am going!  Not going to lie, would much rather be going to this show than Widespread Panic!

  • Our oldest niece, KCR, is turning 7 on Sunday and we can't wait to see her!
  • We are going to see some good friends play music tonight for dinner.  D n' R will be playing from 6-9 tonight at Southside 17 in West Ashley if you want some good music and good food tonight!

  • When is Jessica Simpson going to have her baby?  I feel like she has been pregnant FOREVER!

  • Charleston's own American Idol, Elise Testone was voted off last night.  She rocks and I can't wait to see what becomes of her!

  • As some of you know I work in Real Estate.  There is a GREAT article in Real Simple's May issue titled "How to Buy A House: 7 Essential Checklists."  If you are thinking of buying and overwhelmed by the even thought of it (as I was) or just want to learn more about the buying process, this a wonderful article for you.

  • Reynolds Wrap-Up had the most views EVER yesterday with my featured post of Urban Village Raleigh.  THANK YOU everyone for reading!!!

Easter Weekend Recap

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Easter weekend.  I sure did!  While Mr. R was slaving away slinging bikes allllllll weekend (he was at work until 11:30pm Saturday night, no joke), I was having a fun time with mi familia.

Thursday night I met Mr. R's oldest brother, Ryan and his wife, Ashley, and two of our nieces, Katie and Elizabeth, for dinner at yummy Rosebank Farms Cafe at Bohicket Marina.  I had the fried shrimp platter with white cheddar grits.  We had a really bad storm that night and Tucker (our lab) decided it would be a good idea to try and dig through our closet to get away from the storm...now I have claw marks all in my closet!  My parents, my sister, her boyfriend and her rabbit (yes, rabbit) got in town about 11pm Thursday night.

Friday was a great family day.  Ryan and family stopped by our house on the way out of town to say goodbye and then the Evans Clan (maiden name) headed downtown.  It was unseasonably cold on Friday but still a really nice day to have lunch (Sweetwater Grille--grilled cheese w/ bacon), walk around the new Market area, along King Street (where Remy, the bf, discovered Dumas) and finally the Battery.  The sun came out right before we went to the Battery and it was absolutely gorgeous!

Remy bought this shirt from Dumas & Sons by Southern Proper
Originally we were going to have dinner at Fleet Landing but we were all so pooped and wanted to be able to eat with Mr. R so we hit up Harris Teeter for the makings of a big steak dinner to celebrate the March (Mine, Daddy's) and April (Kimberly's) birthdays.  Mr. R WAS able to come home in time for dinner and to cook the steaks on the Big Green Egg!!  We also exchanged birthday presents and my parents gave me this BEAUTIFUL painting of the site that Mr. and I got married.

My sister was SO surprised when my parents told her they had closed early on her house!  It was cool to see her reaction when she opened up the bag with a key and garage door opener!

Saturday we had hoped to go to the beach but again the weather was a little cool.  Instead, Daddy and I went to Walmart to get some Round-Up and attack the weeds in my yard.  I also got two new window boxes and some flower to spruce up the front porch.  Here is my inspiration...pics to come of the finished product!

Kimberly, Remy, and Momma laid out in the back yard and the first two neglected to wear suntan lotion and got burnt to a crisp.  I managed to get some sun too.  We all were lazy and watched the 3rd round at the Masters before finishing up the day with dinner at Red's at Bohicket Marina.  The sun set was beautiful!

Easter Sunday morning we took it easy.  Normally we are a church going family but knew that we didn't have much time left together this trip to took the opportunity to relax as a family.  Before my family left we snapped a shot of Rals and his cousin Boingo, the rabbit, on Easter.

I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and watching the amazing finale of the Masters.  I am SO happy for Bubba Watson's win and even teared up a little after his final shot!  How special for this man of faith to win on Easter, and his wonderful story of his and his wife's recent adoption.  Enjoy the goofy video (VIA YouTube) below made awhile back by Watson and other golfers on the tour.  I hope you and yours savored the holiday weekend!!!
