Happy Halloween

Some GOULISH Halloween treats for you today...cackle cackle cackle (evil laughter).

THE WITCH'S SPELL FROM SHAKESPEARE'S 'MACBETH'
"Thrice the brinded cat hath mew’d.  Thrice and once, the hedge-pig whin’d.  Harpier cries:—’tis time! ’tis time!
Round about the caldron go; In the poison’d entrails throw.—Toad, that under cold stone, Days and nights has thirty-one; Swelter’d venom sleeping got, Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot!
 Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.

Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,—For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf; Witches’ mummy; maw and gulf Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark; Root of hemlock digg’d i the dark; Liver of blaspheming Jew; Gall of goat, and slips of yew Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse; Nose of Turk, and Tartar’s lips; Finger of birth-strangled babe Ditch-deliver’d by a drab,—Make the gruel thick and slab: Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron, For the ingrediants of our caldron.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.

    Gourmet Grilled Cheese

    Mr. R and I had our regular date with our friends the MacCoys last night for dinner and our weekly Amazing Race viewing.  We are still trying to come up with a catchy name for our get togethers so if anyone has any suggestions, please pass along!

    Last night we dined on "gourmet grilled cheese," salad, Mrs. Fearnow's Brunwick Stew (yes in a can, its the closest to Eastern NC I can find AND Walmart sells it!) and wine (duh).  Here is ours (I had brie, munster & tomato on sourdough) and some other stomach growling renditions for you to try!

    Kiawah On My Mind

    Mr. R and I are headed out to a little piece of paradise called Kiawah Island this weekend with some of our BFFs, the Brewers.  If you have not had the chance to visit KI, YOU SHOULD.  There must be some reason that some of America's finest (Dan Marino, George Bush, Joe Binden, Tara Lapinski, Joe Gibbs, Oprah, Mariah Carey, ect.) have flocked to this island to visit or even dropped their bags and now call it home.  Maybe because it was voted one of America's Top Ten Beaches?  It might as well be the Hamptons of the South (which of course means its better!).

    Mr. R and I met at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, working, fell in love and even got engaged on Kiawah Island.  This weekend should be beautiful and we plan to hit up some of our favorite past times.  We are celebrating our engagement anniversary (Oct 24), as well as an early first wedding anniversary (Nov 6) and a belated wedding anniversary of our friends the Brewers (Oct 17).  Let the celebrating begin!  A few sneak peaks of the island for your viewing...

    10 Miles long, 1.5 Miles wide, only 45 Minutes from Downtown Charleston
    Beautiful Kiawah Island Sunset (the island faces South so you get the best of both!)

    Wanderlusting

    WANDERLUST: a very strong and irresistable impulse or desire to travel the world.

    Its no secret that Mr. R and myself are huge fans of world travel.  Our favorite TV show is Amazing Race and we pretend each episode that we are competing, we might even try out one day...if we can get in shape haha.  I was very fortunate to travel alot as a child and Mr. R has gone the more "wilderness" route with his Boyscout and NOLS adventures.  I come from a long line of wanderlusters and we are excited about our up and coming voyages to Kiawah and the western Carribean.  We hope to travel many places in our lifetime including a couple of these out of this world locals.  Where is the one place in the world you would drop everything to travel to?

    Grown Up Pumpkin Pie Milkshakes

    Pinned Image

    Bourbon + Pumpkin Pie = DELISH!
    My good friend KMM found this treat on the always brilliant Pinterest.  It was the perfect fall dessert on Sunday night!  Enjoy!

    PREP TIME: 10 MINUTES
    READY IN: 20 MINUTES
    YIELDS: 2 MILKSHAKES

    INGREDIENTS
    2 cups vanilla ice cream
    1/2 cup milk
    1/4 cup half & half
    1 tbsp vanilla extract
    2/3 cup pureed pumpkin
    1/2 tbsp **pumpkin pie spice
    1/3 cup graham cracker crumbs
    2-3 oz bourbon
    frosting & sprinkles (or cinnamon sugar) for glasses

    DIRECTIONS (found online here):
    **Create pumpkin pie spice by blending cinnamon, ginger, cloves & nutmeg together.  Add all ingredients to a blender and mix until combined.  Rim glasses with a light coating of frosting and then dip in sprinkles or pumpkin pie spices.  Shake and sprinkle cinnamon on top.  Top with whipped cream if desired.  See our finished product below and forgive the awful blackberry pics!
